Subcommittee Assignments

I have been appointed to two city council subcommittees, and will serve as Vice-chair on both of them.

The Environment & Sustainability Subcommittee, alongside Janet Leombruno (Chair) and Noval Alexander. I was excited to see nine community members in attendance at our organizing meeting. My goals include:

  • Regular meetings to move forward a wide variety of city environmental initiatives, municipal climate change adaptation and preparedness plans and community education;
  • Support of newly created Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails committee and efforts to develop Framingham as a trails hub in Metrowest; including in the Farm Pond area and support of acquisition of land for extension of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail;
  • Approval of municipal aggregation (purchasing of electricity in bulk from a competitive supplier on behalf of residents and businesses), including significant community education;
  • Electrification of the municipal fleet;
  • Support of Eversource Geothermal pilot in area around courthouse as statewide model;
  • Support continued forward movement on the Phase II clean up of the former General Chemical site as well as clean up and redevelopment of Mary Dennison playground.

The Public Health, Safety & Transportation Subcommittee, alongside Tracey Bryant (Chair) and Phil Ottaviani. My goals include:

  • Support of the public health department staff in their tireless work;
  • Support of our emergency services and planning;
  • Support of our front line emergency workers;
  • Evaluation and forward movement on assessment of Traffic Commission report from December 2020 of development of a Traffic Department.

Further, I will also be joining the re-formed Welcoming Immigrant Ordinance Task Force to adopt a clear immigrant policy that will continue to build trust
between immigrants, the City administration and City departments. Established in 2019, this group stopped meeting during the COVID pandemic, and upon request of Councilor Steiner, is re-grouping. You can read the order to establish it here.
